- LECTURES IN CONTEMPORARY ART SOCIOLOGY IN LÜNENBURG, GERMANY, 12 and 13 December 2005. The first 'lecture'is an interview in 'grand oral'fashion; the second is a proper lecture titled "The High Price of High Art. A plea for a reduction in art subsidies and for more respect for the art of others". Info: click here.
- PARTICIPATION IN ING EXPOSITION IN THE ERASMUS UNIVERSITY IN ROTTERDAM. 15 August to 15 October 2005 the Erasmus University in Rotterdam exhibits a selection of the ING collection including a 1996 drawing of mine of a head. The topic is the various ways of representing the human body.
- PART TIME JOB AT THE UNIVERSITY OF AMSTERDAM. September 2005 I started to work one day a week at the University of Amsterdam (the UVA) as a Professor in Art-Sociology at the Faculty of the Humanities and the Faculty of Social Studies. It is a so-called extraordinary professorship paid for by the Boekmanstichting in Amsterdam. I stopped my one and a half day a week assignment at the Faculty of History and Culture Studies at the Erasmus University in Rotterdam.

- Article `LIVING ON THE EDGE' ADDED TO THIS WEBSITE. A theoretical article that, also with the help of a formal model, discusses the relationship between low artists’ incomes and their relatively exceptional motivation, also from a historic perspective. It pays attention to the working of a former Dutch subsidy–scheme for visual artists, the BKR, and a present subsidy–scheme for all Dutch artists, the (W)WIK. - LARGE DRAWING and PHOTO-EXPOSITION IN AMSTERDAM. From Saturday 22 January till 26 February I exhibit some twenty five recent photographs and 13 recent drawings in Galerie Witteveen, Keizersgracht 538 in Amsterdam. From 7 May to 30 June 2004 Hans Abbing exhibits seven photographs from the HEAVEN (click here) series in the ILLUSEUM, Witte de Withstraat 120, Amsterdam. Opening 30 May, from 19.00. Open Friday-Sunday 15.00-20.00 and Saturday also 20.00-1.00. The Illuseum is an artists-initiative. It covers anything from `high'-art to curiosities. Daarin wordt betoogd dat subsidies leiden tot meer kunstenaars terwijl ze de armoede onder kunstenaars in stand houden of verergeren. Dit is een controverseel artikel dat enige tijd niet werd geaccepteerd door een deel van de redactie. Daarom wordt het artikel gevolgd door een Een Gesprek over Subsidies op p.18-19. - FOTO-EXPOSITIE IN AMSTERDAM. From Saturday 17 May till 21 June 2003 I exhibit some twenty recent phfotographs with the title Amazing Photography 2 in Galerie AC Witteveen II, Keizersgracht 429 in Amsterdam.
- PARTICIPATION IN REALISM EXHIBITION IN MUSEUM for MODERN ART ARNHEM. Two of my drawings of heads which are part of the ING collection will be exhibited in a large exhibition of realist paintings and drawings in the MMKA till 15 June. Among the other artists are Kiki Lamers, Rosemin Hendriks and Philip Akkerman.
